Can I Get Shingles By Just Being Around A Person Just After Recovering From Chicken Pox ?

Im 26 years old and got chicken pox 2 weeks ago. My boyfriend woke up this morning with spots. Can I get shingles from being around him, and also being intimate with him within the last 2 weeks as well? My immune system isn t particularly at its best now but I m not sick .

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Shingles usually occurs years after chicken pox infection.
Shingles occur due to reactivation of chicken pox virus in the dorsal root ganglia.
This reactivation occurs during periods of low immunity.
It is advisable for your boyfriend to stay in isolation for few days till the scabs fall off.
Since, chicken pox is a contagious infection, it easily affect to anyone coming in contact.
It is highly possible that you can get the chicken pox infection again.
Shingles may not appear so early but chicken pox infection can occur.
