i am an acute migraine patient and normally have 10-15 tablets of vasograin every month for the last so many years. My age is 37. Is it ok to take so many tablets of vasograin becuase other tablets like suminat 50 are very costly also and they too have lot of side effects. Please advise.
Vasograin tablet contains ergotamine, caffeine, paracetamol. Long term use of it can cause many side effects like: - Sedation. - Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing) - Drowsiness. - Urinary retention - Dryness in mouth - Increased heart rate - Constipation - Muscle pain
You should avoid its prolonged uptake. It is better to take precautions like: - Avoid fried food - Avoid bright light - Avoid stress - Avoid chocolate - Avoid diary products - Drink 3 litre fluids - Sleep at least 8 hours - Avoid prolonged fasting
Take anti migraine prophylaxis like amitriptyline or propranolol after prescription. It will control your pain and reduce intake of Vasograin tablets.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
