Can I Use Sulindac In Place Of Celebrex Prescribed For Arthritic Knee Pain For Long Term?
Hi, my doctor has perscribed me 200mg sulindac as replacement for celebrex for my arthritic knee pain as I am concerned about long time use of the celebrex. What should be my long term concern with sulinad if it helps or should I just manage the pain? He has me on 2, 500mg of tylinol per day as well.
hi The doctor treating you may have assessed you for your liver functions, kidney functios, heart status after having put you on tylenol doses and celebrex.-and any effects on your stomach(acidity).sulindac is also an anti-inflammatory non-steroidal- as I have studied, it may be safer than celebrex for kidney in long term. You may need periodical liver tests on long term medicines and watch for any hyperacidity/heartburn as with previous medicine I would suggest ,you may apply diclofenac gel locally on knee 2-3 times daily rubbing it on the joint for 10 minutes each time to let it dry on skin after hot fomentation.local relief may make it possible to reduce dose of tylenol
