I have a big red, inflamed, slightly raised (swollen) but headless pimple (skin infection?) It's about the size of a big coin (1.5 cm diameter).
I also have Elocon cream (mometasone furoate) 0.1% for an unrelated issue. I have been advised by a friend (no medical knowledge) that I can use this cream to help it heal faster. However, the leaflet says not to be used for acne.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't use the corticosteroid?

You seem to have acne conglobeta. The acne lesions are bigger and nodular. Your question is for use of corticosteroid. But, remaember corticosteroid itself cause acneiform eruption. It is the side effect of corticosteroid. So, it is not advisable to use corticosteroid either orally or locally. It may exacerbate or worsen the condition. There are so many good medicines for acne. You consult dermatologist for perfect treatment. I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
