Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started taking Lamictal about 2 months ago and am up to 100mg once daily. I also take .25mg of klonopin to sleep (not every night) and for anxiety on and off.
I recently started to have this weird tightness in my chest so I decided to quit smoking. The tightness in my chest has only gotten worse. I can feel it in my back, too.
I also a few weeks ago inhaled a lot of sawdust, maybe that is a factor.
I'm very scared and that is making the chest pain worse. Is chest tightness a side effect of lamictal? What else could it be? Should I go to the hospital? I don't have health insurance.

Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. Since you have been smokingchest pain can be due to an obstruction in the blood vessel which supply your heart.Chest pain, irregular heart rhythm, feeling short of breath are side effects of Lamictal which caution its further use.In either ways chest pain has to be evaluated and the cardiac origin has to be ruled out.Donot be afraid.Hope this helps and answers your question.
