Can Shingles (on Buttocks) Cause Painful Groin And Blood Stained Urine?

my 85 year old husband has shingles - really just a small patch on his butt. his stomach was hurting so bad last night he thought he was dying. Our surgeon, who is a friend came over, pushed in his large hernia and put band around it, and just comforted him by visiting. Pain went away in five minutes, really weird, but he is complaining of his groin hurting, and now i just found out he has blood in urine. Could these symptoms be connected with a patch of shingles on his behind.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The shingles should not cause blood in his urine. Blood in the urine (hematuria) can be associated with : (1)infection of some aspect of the urinary tract,
(2) trauma to the urinary tract,
(3) blood disorder, stones ,
(4)inflammatory disease of the kidney

It would be best for him to visit his doctor for an assessment which would include a urine analysis and may involve sending urine to the lab.

I hope this helps
