Can A Biopsy Detect Canker Sores?

I recently came back from Brigham and Womens Hospital where a Dr told me I might have Canker Sores I hade an ulcer about the size of a quarter under my tounge they last about 7 to 10 days and then go away I have a 2 to 3 day break and get another one My glands feel swollen and I feel tired , exhausted I was taking Doxycycline because they thought I had Rosatia in my eyes red and dry should I stop. I started taking this 4/1 these started early in May. These ulcers are perfectally flat , white oval or rectangularis and they hurt. I use to love my dinners ... now I don't want to eat . Dr Treister in Boston told me that if I got another one he wanted me to come right down and they would do a biopsy. Does that always tell you what it is ?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain it seems like you have Recurring Apthous Ulcers and can be due to allergic reaction to any medication or food while can also be due to other causes like Deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, acid reflux,stress,hormonal imbalances etc..
You can start taking a multivitamin tablet daily..
Do warm saline gargles..
Avoid hot and spicy food and drink plenty of water..
Do warm saline gargles and also gargle with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl.
In case if there is no improvement in 15 days or the ulcers still recur you can get a biopsy done to rule out the exact nature of ulcers and treatment can be planned accordingly..
