Can A Echo Showing Dark Spot And The Related Painful Chest Be A Cause Of Concern?
My 19 yr old son had 2 tests done- stress test w/EKG that was ok & an Echo that I was just told showed a shadow or dark spot . The Dr has ordered a CT next but I m worried what that means. He has been having very bad pains in his chest for months, which is reason for testing. Can you shed any light on reason for shadow? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

HI Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.
I need to know exactly what did the ECHO report say . Usually it won't be reported as a dark spot , if at all it has been reported then where exactly is the dark shot , what is the dimensions of it and what is it's relation to heart would be mentioned .
Kindly let me know these details .
As of possibilities is considered you have not mentioned where is the dark spot . So numerous possibilities arises . It could be Infection , Abnormal collection of blood vessels or a Tumour.
Yes a CT scan will give a much better resolution and will be able to tell what exactly is the problem .Kindly go ahead and get it done.
Hope this information was useful to you. Any clarifications feel free to ask .
