I have left RAS that was just confirmed by ultrasound. Would ultrasound show if a cyst is causing the stenios or another structure. I also have history of left ovarian cysts and enlarged uterus.Female age 50, 125 lbs, 5ft tall, recent start of high blood pressure.
Ultrasound will show any structure like a cyst and it will be reported by your doctor. However RAS has its own causes with 90 percent caused by atherosclerosis—clogging, narrowing, and hardening of the renal arteries. In these cases, due to plaque building up on the inner wall of one or both renal arteries. Plaque buildup is what makes the artery wall hard and narrow. Other causes are fibromuscular dysplasia in which the abnormal development or growth of cells on the renal artery walls can cause blood vessels to narrow.
