Can Afib Be Caused By Stomach Problems Due To Irregular Eating?

Yes, I recently started to have afib, It started last year, and happened when I tried reducing my Bystolic to 2.5MG, I am now back to 5mg. In the past few weeks I have started to have afib more, with a heart rate of 140. I am on a 21 day monitor. We thought it was alcohol related, but this past Monday, I had episodes, and hadn t drank in two days. The previous event was after 3 beers, on Saturday. All of the events seem to be when I lay down. Can afib be caused by the stomach, eating late?

Hi Welcome to HCM.
I understand your query and concern.
Yes definitely your symptoms are suggestive of AF due to undue stress and anxiety. .Increase in heart rate is known to alter the blood supply to the brain leading to impaired function in a transient way.Few drugs like beta blockers are certainly known to reduce the heart rate and accelerate the dizzy spells.I advise you to have a complete 24 hour holter ECG which can accurately determine the cardiac conduction abnormalities.Monitor your blood pressure and heart rate.Drugs like Isoproterenol will help to increase the heart rate.Drugs like amiodarone can also help to minimise the rhythm irregularities.A 2 Dimensional echocardiography will help to assess the functional reserve of the heart ruling out organic heart lesions.Electrophysiological study and Radiofrequency ablation will also help to eliminate abnormal foci of rhythm.
Consult your cardiologist for expert management.
