Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 8 year old son has been complaining of a pumping sensation in the right side of his abdomen for the last few days. When i try to feel it I am unable to and when I ask him to put his hand where it is happening he says he can t feel it with his hand but only inside. He was complaining of an upset stomach this morning but that appears to have cleared up during the day and he does not appear to be showing any other symptoms. Could this be appendicitus?
Detailed Answer: Hello, Thank you for using HCM. Generally the pain caused by appendicitis, is dull, localised near the navel or the upper abdomen that becomes sharp as it moves to the lower right abdomen. The pain is usually associated with vomiting, nausea, fever and weakness. So the symptoms of your son does not look so typical for appendicitis. Even though to rule it out he should make a surgeon visit. He should have a full blood count and an abdominal echography to help the surgeon to make an accurate diagnosis.
Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you need more clarifications. Otherwise please close and rate the answer. Kind Regards, Dr. Juarda
