Can Benadryl Which Caused Dizziness, Be Alternated With Home Treatment For Severe Itching On Legs And Arms?
My sister 83 years old has developed what looks like elephant skin on her legs and arms mainly. She has severe itching and because of the skin becoming so hard, her feet and ankles have started swelling. She tried taking benedryl but it caused her too much dizziness and she was falling alot. What type of home treatments can she do...she will not go to a doctor?
I can understand your concern for the severe itching on legs and arms.
It is usual feature in old age to get itching without any cause or many a times due to dryness also.
The only precaution she must follow is not to touch, pinch pop or squeeze any of them other wise it can get infected and can cause complications.
She can apply a mositurizing cream application for 3-4 times and can additionaly take antihistamine loratadine by mouth instead of benadryl. Loratadine is a non-sedating antihistamine and is very safe also.
Take care.
