Can Brace Help In Preventing Falling Forward In A Wheelchair?

I had spinal meningitis-bacterial I think in the Navy. 50 yrs later, I have osteoarthritis. Va several yrs ago said that I had discentagrating spine. I have pain all the time and all they give me is rub and Tylenol. Do I need to wear a brace to keep me from bending forward like my aunt does in her wheelchair. Im now in electric wheelchair. When I walk, it s getting too painful.

Hello!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

I would like to review your spine MRI study for a more professional opinion. A lumbar brace may not be helpful.
A nerve conduction study is also necessary to examine the nerves in your lower limbs.
Regarding the pain, I would recommend discussing with your doctor on the possibility of starting amitriptyline or gabapentine for the chronic management of back pain.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!
Kind regards!
