Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Change In Generic Name Of The Medicine Cause Heavy Bleeding?
My period ended at least 5 days ago, and I ve started having dark brown discharge again. I m on Gianvi (generic Yaz). It s packaging changed this month, and the pills themselves look different as well. Could this be the cause of the bleeding/dark discharge I have now?
Although the packaging or color of medicine has changed, you should check if the content is the same or not. Sometimes companies change these things over time although the content must be clearly mentioned on the medicine. Compare it with the previous ones and then continue it.
If you have doubt and not able to understand the content clearly then consult your doctor regarding this. He will guide you on this. The symptoms you are having might or might not be related to the medicine you are taking. A physical examination is needed along with medical history for better understanding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
