Dear Sir, Thank you very much for this opportunity. I am a 50 year old female from Hungary and I have had unilateral, right eye ptosis (4-5 mm) for about 10 years. I also feel pain, more like pressure, on the right eye and recently light pain around my right ear, sometimes pain behind my right cheek. I don’t have double vision, tearing, edema, discharge, swelling of the right eye. My right nostril is obstructed very often, the left one is quite all right. The ophtalmologist says my vision is ok but I feel that I have a restriction of my right eye movement. I feel that this is a serious problem, my right eye seems a little bit smaller, seems older (the upper lid is deepened, the eyeball is a little sunken) and because of that, my face got distorted. I have old photographs, there wasn’t any asymmetry. I’ve seen doctors in 2001 (when it started), in 2005, and in 2010-2011. I always started with an otolaryngologist because I felt pain behind the cheeks and my right eye and I thought that it might be sinusitis. The otolaryngologist sent me to the opthalmologist and then to the neurologist. In 2010 (after a cold) a CT of the face was made. In 2001 an MRI of the head was done and the radiologist found brain lesions. In 2011 the MRI of the head was repeated and they found that there is no progression of the lesions. Cancer, MS and MG and was ruled out. Pain and nose obstruction get worse when I sleep on my right side. Then I usually wake up. In 2011 I was prescribed antibioticts, after taking them it has got better. Both otolaryngologist and the ophtalmologist said that this is a neurological problem. But the neurologist can’t find anything which explains the ptosis and the pain. I have a feeling that the cause of my eye problem is a chronic sinus infection, but I am not a doctor. If you have an idea please let me know. Sincerely, M.
