Can Decrease In The Insulin Dose Cause Any Side Effects?
my father is diabetic and takes insulin twice daily to make his blodd sugar normal but he wants to decrease his insulin doses coz he is not comfortable with it..pls guide me what to do and how should he decrease the doses and still be in a condition where he will not be hospitalised,he is almost 69 years old.
Dear sir i can understand your concern in my opinion insulin dose need to continue in the same way. insulin dose will be reduced only in the case of moderate to severe hypoglycemia at a regular basis. to take any decision on reducing or increasing the dose of insulin first its very important to see the diabetic profile of your father which contains test regarding 1.blood sugar 2.hba1c% 3.renal parameters 4.liver function 5 complete blood picture. Hope I was able to help you. If you have any further question feel free to write me back. I will be happy to help. Take care. Best Regards. Dr Vamsi Krishna Consultant Diabetologist Apollo Hospitals
