Hi, Im 30 yrs old and had a discechtomy 4 yrs ago, I went to India and received Ayurvedic treatment as well as yoga for 2 years, and then became more active again, riding my bike to work for a year and thought my problems were over as the feeling and strength in my right leg was almost back, maybe 80%. I lifted a sofa (very carefully) 3 months ago and felt a bit sore, with a small amount of pain in my legs, I didnt lift anything for a month and the pain went, so I tried to lift some bricks I needed to move and it came back a bit worse, tight pain in both legs down the nerve so again I did nothing for a month and it got less. So, I tried to dig a bit in the garden and my back locked up completely with a lot of pain down both legs which is starting to calm down again after 2 weeks. The pain is not the crippling pain I had for 9 months before the operation but enough to worry me that it will come back if I do anything else. I had a repeat MRI showing a protrusion of 4-5mm but they said maybe this was there since the op. I want to be active and need to be as I now have a 1yr old son but I dont want the original sickening pain that I had for so long to come back. The feeling in my leg is down to 40% again. Can doing gentle yoga exercises make the problem worse?
