Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, my blood pressure has been running high for the past few weeks, tonight it was 165/75 and my pulse was 112. I have been sitting down for the past 3 to 5 hours. I take one 5ml tablet of enapril a day. do you think I might be having a problem? I also have been having quite of bit of acid reflux. I also take 2 40mg of Nexium a day.
Hi welcome to HCM. Yes elevated blood pressure can cause various medical problems. It can lead to pressure on heart causing congestive cardiac failure precipitating heart attacks. It can also lead to renal shutdown ,if not properly treated in time.Maintain the blood pressure below 130/80 mm of Hg.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6 gm /day.Dose modification is needed if the blood pressure is not controlled accordingly.I advise you to have a baseline echo and ecg to rule out organic heart disease.Avoid meals after 8 pm to restrict symptoms of acid reflux. An upper gi endoscopy will help to document any peptic ulceration in the lung.Hence i recommend an annual endoscopy on regular basis.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you.
