Can I Take Valtrex For More Than A Day?

Hi I would lIke to know if I can take Valtrex for moe than one day - 12 hour treatment - Can I do another treatment once I am half a day apart of my first treatment ? I have a cold sore , but this time it is more painfull than normaly ?? Please help
