Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My girlfriend had a kidney transplant when she was 2. she has had the same kidney going on 18 years now. her medications have made it so she is susceptible to cancer a lot. she has had 2 back surgeries and another one this summer due to fragile bone breaking. she has high blood pressure so she has like 3 meds for that too. my question is that she wants to loose weight because it would help with blood pressure and other health issues. diet and exercise has worked before but she gained most of it back and to be honest after 3 back surgeries she wont be able to exercise much. recently i have been taking Adapexin P which is a weight loss supplement. i had no issues with it at all and helped me loose and keep off about 10 lbs. now because its a supplement and is mostly all natural it shouldn't mess with her meds right? would it be ok for her to use it to help loose the weight?
I understand your concern. Adapexin P contains a chemical that is more of a mood elevator than a chemical involved in weight loss (phenylethylamine), raspberry ketones, a good dose of caffeine, chromium (may cause low blood sugar) and water soluble fiber. Reviews suggest that "it is an expensive form of caffeine". I cannot say for certainty if there would be any drug interactions without a list of her medications to see.
Because raspberry ketones can increase blood pressure and you mentioned that she is on 3 meds for high blood pressure lead me to the conclusion that this does not seem to be a safe option for your friend to use.
Thank you for checking with HCM on the safety of this product for your friend. Best wishes. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
