Can Lump Cause Weakness In The Entire Body ?

I had a lump in the back of my neck at the base of the skull. A Doctor removed it and said it was much larger than it appeared and embedded in the muscle. During this same time period I have experienced a weakness throughout my body on the side that the lump was on. Could the lump have caused this problem, even after it was removed? I am 59 years old, 6 2 , male and in otherwise good health.

Hi Ken,
Welcome to HCM.
The weakness in the body could certainly be due to the lump. When the surgeon removed the lump, he must have sent it for Histo-Pathological examination. That report will tell us what exactly that lump was and it is that report which will decide the future course of action.

The lump I had was non canerous. There was a large empty space in my neck where the lump was, which has since filled in. It seems that the weakness in the left side of my body may be caused from a tilting of my head to the left which generates down through the whole left side. What types of treatments are there available to strenghten this area? Or could it be that there may be a nerve blocked? What type of Doctor should I see? My Family Doctor does not seem to have any idea.
