I am always tired no matter how much I sleep. I find it hard to sleep, but once I am i find it hard to wake up. Sometimes I will find it so hard to shut down to fall asleep I only have an hour or 2 sleep. I once slept for 3 days. I get headaches sometimes, feel weak and get exhusted even after a good nights sleep. Think I had always suffereed with these symptons my whole life. Someone said it could be M.E???

Dear HCM user

What you are describing seems to be chronic insomnia. It can be independent or due to some other psychiatric disorder like depression. In that along with difficulty falling asleep and fatigue you will also have sad mood, loss of interest in activities, pessimistic thoughts. Also some common nutrional deficiencies like B12, or hormonal issue like hypothyroidism can cause these symptoms. I will advice you to get some routine tests to rule out such common causes and get evaluated for depression. If not, you can follow some simple steps of sleep hygiene to help you sleep better. It doesn't seem to be M.E. So you need not worry.
