Good morning Dr Grief, My wife is taking insulin for almost 5 years now and last Friday I bought her insulin but unfortunately I left the novomix insulin in our car which is parked in our garage for 3 days with about 28-30 degrees centigrade temperature. My question Dr. Grief is that, can we still use the novimix insulin that was left in the car? Will highly appreciate your prompt reply. God bless you. Truly yours, Butch

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is not recommended to use insulin that has been exposed to high temperatures, as it may lose its potency and effectiveness. Insulin should be stored in a cool place, ideally in a refrigerator, and should not be exposed to extreme temperatures. Using insulin that has been exposed to high temperatures can lead to unstable blood sugar levels and potentially dangerous complications. Therefore, it is advisable to discard the insulin that was left in the car for 3 days and obtain a new supply of insulin.
