Can One More Dose Of Omeprazole Be Taken For Diarrhea And Extreme Acid Stomach?

I AM A 77 YEAR OLD MALE WITH A HISTORY OF HEART DISEASE; I.E., OPEN-HEART SURGERY PLUS A TOTAL OF 9 STENTS, 4 OF WHICH ARE AORTIC. i AM ALSO DIABETIC, TYPE 2 UNCONTROLLED. I HAVE HAD GIR FOR ABOUT 3 OR FOUR YEARS NOW, UNDER CONTROL WITH OMEPRAZOLE 20MG. FOR SOME IDIOTIC REASON I ARBITRARILY DECIDED TO DISCONTINUE TAKEING THE OMEPRAZOLE A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, SINCE I HADN T HAD ANY GASTRIC ACID EPISODES IN A VERY LONG TIME. BIG MISTAKE! I VE BEEN FEELING VERY SICKLY ALL DAY, SO AT APPROX. NOON I ATE A TUMS TABLET. THAT DIDN T WORK VERY WELL, SO AT ABOUT 5 PM I FINALLY TOOK A CAPSULE OF OMEPRAZOLE. WITHIN ABOUT AN HOUR I HAD VERY WATERY DIARRHEA AND AN EXTREMELY ACID STOMACH. WITH THIS LEVEL OF DISCOMFORT, I DOUBT THAT I LL BE ABLE TO SLEEP TONIGHT, SO WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT. I M AFRAID TO TAKE ANOTHER CAPSULE. THANK YOU

You can try some Pepto-Bismol which will help calm stomach acid and will help with diarhea. Also you should start some probiotics to help regulate your bowels. remember to avoid acidic foods such as tomato sauce in pasta and pizza and avoid orange juice. Also try to raise the head of the bed with pillows so the stomach acid stays in the stomach and does not come up the esophagus.
