Can pregnancy make you lose your voice? I m 33 weeks today and have been losing my voice for 4 weeks now on and off. I m 27, 5 10 and 13.5-14 stone due to pregnancy... usually 11.5. Usually I have hayfever and animal allergies but haven t had any since pregnancy.
Hi, Pregnancy cannot make you lose your voice. It is due to inflammations of the vocal cords, possibly recurrent. Pregnancy lowers immunity and hence infections are on the rise. Since you have history of atopy or allergy, this tendency may be increased. Please have a check up by an otorhinolaryngologist and take necessary treatment. You can try voice rest, saline gargles and intake of lukewarm water for relief. A proper antibiotic may be necessary after a throat swab for culture and sensitivity. Hope this helps.
