Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was just reading recent information on IBS which I have had for years. I thought it may lead to colon cancer and wonder what else I need to be watchful of. I have had 2 colonoscopies and one polyp removed 3 years ago and last year all clear. I look forward to knowing more.Thank you Linda YYYY@YYYY
Hello, IBS is a functional disorder and may persistent for very longtime but it doesn't lead to colon cancer, however poylps in colon can lead to cancer. Since you haven't got a recurrence of polyp,it is good sign but you should keep on meeting your gastroenterologist regularly for regular and scheduled check ups. Thanks
