A few days ago, I starting experiencing pain (like a bad bruise) on my forehead near my hairline and my eyebrow. I then noticed red blotches in those areas which were painful, itchy. There does not seem to be any pustules. I called my GP who stated he was pretty sure I had shingles and prescribed an antiviral. He also recommended I see my opthomologist since one of these spots were on my eyebrow. I now have since developed an itchy, painful blotch on my eyelid. Do you agree that this may be shingles?
Shingles is commonly associated with Neuralgic pain, specially in the elderly. Even though the herpes/shingles heals in a week or ten days but the Neuralgic pain can persist for months.
I would advice that you see a dermatologist who might prescribe you a medication for the neuralgic pain. Various options are: -NSAIDs like ibuprofen, diclofenac -Tricyclic anti depressants: Amytriptyline, nortryptyline -Anticonvulsants:Carbamazepine, Gabapentin/pregabalin -Methylcobalmin etc
take care regards
