I hit my head two weeks ago on a steel railing as a result of a slip and fall. I suffered lacerations on my cheek as well as just above the bridge of my nose. I didn't lose consciousness and was fully coherent after the collision. The next day I obviously felt pain in the front of my head predominantly from the cheek and forehead areas where the impact occurred. Having suffered from a minor concussion in the past, I was carefully monitoring my symptoms to see if in fact I was mildly concussed. As a precaution I went to my family Dr. We decided to do facial structure x-rays again, as a precaution and the results were negative HOWEVER; my Dr. ordered a follow up CT scan immediately due to a "mass" (inflamed soft tissue build up) in the sinus region. Any reason to believe the sinus discovery is related with the impact? Or are we likely talking about two independent things?
You need to realise that everyone has sinus which are collection of air pockets surrounding the nose and when they get infected or inflamed then it is called sinusitis or a sinus problem in the common sense. This can happen in any trauma or infection and need to be investigated and looked upon only if the sinus problem is chronic or permanent.
So in your case both the things are possible and all you have to do is not worry about either and just be in continuous follow up with your ENT.
Meanwhile you can do steam inhalation so that you feel better and the sinus congestion will become better
