Can Sunburnt Skin Leaking Yellow Fluid Be Any Concern Of Infection ?
My daughter got very sunburnt on the weekend and now her skin is leaking a yellow fluid, my concern is that she may get an infection, I cannot get her into the doctors until next week as they are fully booked and suggested I go to a chemist to seek advise on something to put on the sunburn, what should I get?
I read your query and understood your concern. It definitely sounds like your daughter has gotten a secondary infection. Burns usually exude clear fluid, and yellow colored discharge is caused when it is mixed with pus.
Get an appointment with your dermatologist as soon as possible so that they can test the pus in laboratory and find what organism is causing it, and treat accordingly.
Meanwhile apply antibiotic ointment like silver sulfadiazine cream to the oozing areas. Apply aloevera / lactocalamine to other non oozing burnt areas. Do not pop any blisters or handle oozing areas, it may result in further infection
Hope I helped.
