Can Swollen, Red, Painful, Warm Toenail After Dropping Heavy Object On Toe Heal By Itself?
Hi, I dropped something heavy on my big toe yesterday. the toenail turned blue immediately (like 30% of the surface area).. this morning, i woke and it was like 50% blue. and now, it's even larger. the toe is also swollen, red and really warm. oh and it hurts a lot. i know i should i drain the blood yesterday but i didn't have anything to do it since i wasn't home. is it gonna heal by itself ? is it normal that the toe nail get more and more blue ? thank you!
Immediate discoloration and increase with time – is highly suggestive of haematoma (blood clot) Warmth and redness are from inflammation /subsequent infection cannot be ruled out See a surgeon / get yourself examined / at times, basic investigation (like X-ray - to rule out fracture) may be necessary... Draining the collection and/or removing the nail will give prompt relief Over The Counter (OTC) Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID)will be useful in the meanwhile...
Good luck Take care Wishing all well God bless
