I'm asking because I was tested for diabetes & the doctor asked if it ran in my family? It does on both my mother & father's side & I have always had a sweet tooth but I am not overweight (I'm average) & try not to eat fatty foods that much. I do however tend to splurge on the sugar. Can too much sugar cause diabetes? Thanks everyone.

Diabetes, can come to you specially if you already have a family history that predisposes you to it. A sedentary life with a poor diet, or being overweight can contribute to acquiring Type II Diabetes. Its just not eating lots of sugars.
hello, follow a healthy pattern of life. have healthy diet, excercise everyday. how much sugar you take in, you must burn it out through activity. if you are a potent diabetic (history of diabetic parent) then you are more prone to diabetes than others. take care.
