These are my widal report TITRE 1/30 1/60 1/120 1/240 1/480 T"O" + - - - - T"H" + - - - - A"H" - - - - - B"H" - - - - - Is this test positive or negative? Please reply at earliest
Hi and thank for the query, the interpretation of the WIDAL test today needs to be correlated to the clinical condition. However, in this case, with both O and H antibodies present, it actually means, in case of presence of clinical signs and symptoms, it should be an active infectious process going on. However, this requires a control in the next 15 days to actually be sure. Its important to note that there exist many false positives and other more specific tests are actually preferred today. complete blood counts in search of raised white blood blood cells or reduced white blood cells, blood cultures and stool examination and cultures are more sensitive, specific and informative. I would suggest you consult your family physician to correlate these results with your clinical condition and may be propose other tests if need be. Thanks and hope this helps, Luchuo, MD.
