Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi So I have been having stomach pains for weeks. I have a hard time eating, cause food just makes me feel nauseous, but when I do eat even if it is a piece of bread I feel full. So I cant eat a lot, of food at one time. Drinking a 40z glass of water makes me feel like I am gonna puke. I have also been having stomach spasms. I went to the ER and they thought I had Gastritis so they told me to just eat foods to clean myself out. Well It has been 6 days and I havent gone to the bathroom
Are you passing gas? 6 days is a long time to go without a bowel movement, and the symptoms you are describing make me concerned about a GI obstruction. I would recommend going back to the ER where they can do an abdominal xray or CT scan to make sure you don't have an obstruction. This is especially true if you are not passing gas or stool. An obstruction is a serious matter and can lead to severe complications.
Gastritis can also cause these symptoms, but the gold-standard of diagnosis of gastritis is with an endoscopy (which is very invasive). You can try taking an antacid like Maalox to see if that calms your stomach. Definitely avoid taking NSAIDs like ibuprofen or aleve.
