Cause Of Bloating, Cramps, Lower Abdominal Discomfort After Taking Norlevo?
Hi, I took Norlevo 2 pills on the 17th January, 12 hours after sex. I had unprotected sex in my fertile time. 6 days later I had a withdrawal bleed for 2 days. Then some spotting for 1 more with dark brown blood. My actual period is now 7 days late. I have tested negative for pregnancy on the home tests. I am extremely bloated with a hard stomach and much discomfort and pain. I feel like my period is about to start every day with a hot feeling in my lower abdomen but then it passes. I do not have sore breasts or other pregnancy symptoms. Just a hard bloated belling and cramps. Can I be pregnant?
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. As you have taken the emergency contraceptive within the stipulated time period after the intercourse, you are well protected. The symptoms you are experiencing are more likely due to an impending period. The emergency contraceptive contains high levels of progesterone and this disrupts the hormone balance of the body, hence the abnormal menstrual pattern. If you miss your period by more than ten days, please get further help from your health care provider. Take care.
