Cervical Cerclage Placed, Passing Brown Blood. Anatomical Scan Normal. Cause?
I had a cervical cerclage placed at 18 weeks. I am now 26 weeks and have been passing brown blood for the past five weeks. Saw my OBGYN last week. He did a complete anatomical scan and checked my cervical thickness by scan and everything was fine. But the blood has not stopped. It is only enough to dampen a panty liner each day but it is still troubling. What could be the cause?
hello Thanks for writing to us. There could be various causes of spotting. One is obviously the risk of preterm labour. Since that has been ruled out by an internal checkup and cervical length estimation. Do not worry. Other reasons could be low lying placenta ( placenta previa ) etc. Ensure that also is ruled out. Take rest, avoid stress and intercourse. All the best.
