Chapped Lips With Yellowish White Crusty Formations At The Corners. How To Treat It ?

Hi. I have recently gotten chapped lips . At firts I thought it was normal chapped lips, but then i noticed something. On the corners of my mouth, there were yellowish white crusty, thick formations. I read more, and found that when you sleep with your mouth open, saliva will form these. They are only on one side. They slowly fall off sometimes, and they bled once. They are now a dark red color. I would like to know what this is and how to treat it.

Hello,
You are having a bacterial infection on the lips and as they have become hard, you will need a dual therapy.
I would suggest starting with neosporin or polysporin antibacterial cream apply twice daily and after half an hour, apply 0.5% or 1% hydrocortisoe cream only to the affected area, NOT inside the mouth or anywhere else.
Continue this for maximum 10 days, and if you see an improvement within a week, you can stop.
Please see a doctor if there is no improvement, as you might need an anti-fungal as well.
Thanks.
