Child. Swollen And Red Gums. Prescribed Antibiotics For Strep Throat. Possible Molars Coming In?

My son is two years old actually 26 months. He has swollen gums now for 3 days. He had a fever which we gave him Advil for but the gums are red and swollen. We went to the doctor for a check up one day before the gums started to swell. She gave us antibiotics for his throught she thought he could have strepp.

Should we worry, we think it could be his molars coming in

Hi,

You may be quite right because the 2nd molar do erupt between 20-30 mths. You could apply a dental gel to relieve his pain.

However since your son is running fever i would suggest you continue with the medication as prescribed by his doctor. If his fever does not subside in 3 days get him reassessed.

Regards
