Child Complaining About Stomach Pain, Nausea. Eating Disorders. Can Milk Be Given In Such Situation? Gastric Problem?
Hello doctors,
My son in 4 years old. Since last 2 days he is complaining of stomach pain and nausea (i think this is due to the oily stuff he ate). Can this be a gastric problem? Can you pls recommend any syrup or tablet for him ? He is eating food in very less quantity and asks for milk. Can i give him milk when he has stomach pain and nausea?
Milk is only contraindicated in persistent diarrhea. This is diarrhea more than 2 weeks duration. In other scenarios there is no real contraindication for milk.
In the persistent diarrhea I mentioned there is lactose intolerance that develops which is required for digestion of milk. So we avoid milk in such scenarios.
Regarding the stomach pain and nausea please consult your doctor once. A physical examination will rule out the basic causes of such a problem.
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care.

Welcome to HCM. It could be due to indigestion after oily food. Give him very light and liquid diet like Curd, buttermilk with rice, fruit juices, lemon water, vegetable soups.Try to avoid milk for at least two days. Give him lactobacillus, enzyme preparations. Oral ondencetrone syp will reduce nausea. If it persisit than start antibiotic like oflox, cefixim under guidance of your pediatrician.
