Child Has Been Described 3500 Co Codamol For Popping Disc Back Problem. Feeling Dizzy. Suggestions?

Hi my son who is 26 has been described 3500 co codamol for popping disc back problem. He's taken two and then was feeling dizzy so went to lie down but when his partner went to wake him she couldn't and after a few minutes she was able to wake him? He's not sleeping due to pain in his back so is very tired anyway but I'm concerned he's feeling drowsy and dizzy since taking them about 2hrs ago

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Co-Damol 30/500 contains 30mg Codeine and 500mg Paracetamol. Codeine acts directly in the central nervous system (brain) and have sedation as side effect that manifest as drowsiness and dizziness. So is likely that his drowsiness and dizziness conditions are due to side effects of Co-damol. In the first instance reduce the dose of Codamol to one and contact you doctor for further advise.
Wish him good health
