Child Has Fever. Given Calpol, Crocin, Azithrol And Meftal. Leg And Neck Pain. History Of Pneumonia
Hi, My son is 3 years 6 months old. He has been having the fever for the past 3 days. On Day 1 we gave him calpol syrup 250 mg - 4ml every 6 hrs. His fever responded immediately and came to normal within 2 hrs. However from the 5th hour onwards temp start shooting up and went up to 102 F. Took him to Paediatrician on Day 2 and after diagnosis she prescribed crocin (every 6 hrs.) and Azithrol 250mg (single dose a day). Again when he was given with medicine his temperature drops to normal in 2 Hrs. time and shoots up from 5 or 6th hour onwards, reaches to 102.9 F. On Day 3 (last evening) doctor prescribed him Meftal 250 mg 3/4 tablet every 8 Hrs. The doctor ruled our possible dengue based on certain observations and answers she got from us for certain enquiries. After having the medicine the temp dropped again last night and now in the morning he his having 101F temp. Please note that he is active (not very active as used be in normal stage) and taking lot of water every hour. However not having any solid food much. However he has been complaining of legs and neck pain . He was affected by pneumonia last June and recovered after 5 days of hospitalisation. He has been having frequent ( initially every week and turned into every month once) coughs and wheezing too, which has been gradually reducing based on observation. Request your views and advice.
Hi
Continue the medication as advised by your Pediatrician. The leg and neck pains will subside gradually. Usually during winter seasons cold and cough episodes are frequent among the children and is more common in susceptible and prone children as they are more sensitive to these seasonal changes. As the age grows the frequency of these episodes will decrease mostly by 6 years of age.
