Child Has Fever, Sore Throat, Swollen Glands. Negative For Mono. Elevated Liver Function. Due To Allergy?
My daughter has had a fever for 2 weeks now a sore throat and swollen glands. The dr had be done to test for mono this test came out negative and her CBC was good as well however she had elevated liver function. He is doing more test but my question is she has severe allergies and has shots every other week. Is this a possibility if cause her liver function to be elevated
Hi ! Yes, if other causes of elevated liver function like hepatitis, and few others are excluded, this could be due to the side effects of some kind of medicines which your daughter is getting in the form of shots. You are advised to consult your treating doctor on this issue. Wishing your daughter an early recovery.
Allergies will not cause elevated liver function tests but not knowing how high the tests were I can't really comment on whether it is anything to worry about. Most viruses that cause mono symptoms will cause a mild inflammation of the liver and that is all it was most likely if they were just slightly elevated.
Was a throat swab for culture and sensitivity done? A throat infection can cause sore throat and swollen local lymph nodes because of the infection. Which liver function tests are elevated? What are their values? What shots are being given to her? Please reply in detail so that I can help you better.
