Child Has Upset Stomach, Had Low Grade Fever. Bug Or Strep?

My 13 year old daughter has complained of twisty upset stomach for 3 days now. She had a low-grade fever, but it is gone. Today she s still complaining of an upset stomach, not menstrual cramps . No vomiting , no diarrhea . She says it s not stress or anxiety , but she doesn t feel well enough to go to school. Could she have a bug or strep? In the past she had these symptoms and no sore throat, but turned out she had strep. I m debating whether to take her to the doctor because if it s viral, the doctor can t give her anything anyway, but then again, it could be strep. I think she really doesn t feel well, but my husband thinks she s faking. She said the pain was 7 on a scale of 1-10, today 6.

Hi,

It is looking like gastritis because of viral infection. You can try antacids and PPI like ranitidine, pantoprazole.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
