Child Have Dried Blood Around The Entrance Of Ear. What Could Be The Cause For This?

Hello, I noticed that my 3.5 year old son had dried blood around the entrance of his ear so I stuck a wet cotton swab slightly inside of his ear and there was quite a bit of dried blood in there. He said he hasn't hit his head and that it doesn't hurt. I don't remembering him hitting his head recently so what could it be? Could I have accidentally hurt it while cleaning his ears out?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The dried blood may be related to external trauma to the ear, for example if he pushed any objects in his ear or rupture of the ear drum

Rupture of the ear drum most commonly occur in the context of an ear infection but can occur other wise

Ear drum rupture may have no symptoms in some persons. In other there may be symptoms such as decreased hearing temporarily, tinnitis.

It heals on its own in most persons.

You may want to consider taking him to his doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
