Child Having Fever. Fever Not Reducing With Antibiotics, Babygesic. How To Reduce Fever?
Hi, My kid got fever . and we have tried babygesic 1.5 ml for every six hours. His weight is 10kg. And age is 1year 2 months old. It was not reducing, so went to a doctor. He has given SECEF 100mg/5ml, to give morning and evening 2.5ml with babygesic 1.5ml every 5 hours. We have started giving antibiotics from yesterday night. But still fever is there and it is 102 degrees. Please suggest a way to reduce the fever.
Thanks for writing to health care magic. I can understand your concern.
If fever persists in a child of that age group then he needs to be investigated. Does he have any associated complaints like cough, cold or burning urination or increased frequency of urination etc?
Investigations like CBC, CRP, Peripheral smear for malaria, urine examination may be ordered by your doctor after physical examination.

The antibiotics can take a day or two to start having an effect and in many childhood infections such as the cold the fever can last 2 to 4 days , resolving with use of the anti pyretic medication then returning as the medication wears off.
In addition to the use of medication, you can make sure he is dressed coolly, give cold or cool liquids to drink , try tepid sponging and use a fan if you have one available.
