Child Hurt Knee. MRI Fine. Cannot Bend Knee. Had Put Immobilizer On Leg. Alternate Treatment?
11 year daughter hurt her knee in dance class. Her knee cap popped and went back in. Long story short. We went to the ER and xray came back fine however they put an immoblizer on her leg. A week later we went to an ortho, MRI came back fine, however my daughter can not bend her knee on her own without it being pushed down. We are in PT 3 times a week to help stregthen quad muscles, but it's like her mind can't move her knee especially when she walks or tries to step up. The PT said her leg is acting like someone that had ACL surgery and that her leg atrophied from the immobolizer. Should I be looking into other possible treatments?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. If the MRI report has come normal and there is a definite muscle wasting, then a nerve related problem should be considered. Do consult a neurologist for proper evaluation. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
