Child Passing Runny Stools Many Times, No Blood. Lost Weight, Appetite Less. Stool Tested, High WBC. Worried
My four year old son has been pooping four to five times a day and it doesn't look normal but rather runny. No blood in stool. Then he goes back to it being normal and one to two times a day. Only has lost a half a pound in a couple of weeks. Appetite is so so, eats a little, hasn't vomited. Fever this week bc he was sick but back to normal with a cold still but no fever. Had his stool tested and it was high in wbc, doctor suggested a specialtist. Worried about cancer?
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic It is difficult to say any thing about cancer without thorough investigations The problem is >2 weeks and symptoms suggest tuberculosis. Hence you have to exclude it by doing blood tests as well as mantoux test. History of measles, chickenpox or whooping cough in the past 6 months and History of contact with tuberculosis enhances the possibility It is better you consult a pediatrician and investigate prommptly Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
