Child Scheduled To Have Coil Inserted Into Heart. Safe Procedure? Side Effects?
I have just heard that my grandson aged 6 is having a coil inserted into his heart, he is a strong healthy little boy who plays a lot of sport, football and so on, has boundless energy. I presume this is because the pda did not close after birth - is there more danger in having the procedure, more likelihood of side effects to the procedure than leaving him without surgery and monitoring his heart on a regular basis?
Thanks for writing to health care magic. The long term complications of PDA out weigh the risks of the procedure. Please go ahead with the procedure as advised by your doctor.
If you are not really comfortable please get a second opinion so that you are reassured. You should go ahead with the procedure. Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care.
