Child Suffering From Sever Viral Infection. Given Crocin And Ibugesic. Safe To Give These Medications? Side Effects?

Hi. I have a 3 yr old child who has got a severe viral infection. Temperature has intermittently hit 103 and a low of 98. It's been 6 days now and we have controlled the fever with Crocin and Ibugesic. We have been giving him 7.5 ml Crocin at 5-6 hr intervals. I just want to know how often can we give Crocin or Ibugesic to a child and does it have any impact on the child's health or internal organs? Is there any foods or liquids I can give the child to reduce the impact of the paracetemol?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The dose of crocin and ibugesic depends on the weight of the child.

Crocin can be given every 6th hourly depending on the presence of fever.

Ibugesic can be given 8th hourly and usually with food.

If the doses of these drugs is more than the prescribed dosage, there are chances of getting effect on internal organs like liver, and kidney.

So it is advised to use these drugs as prescribed by the doctor.

And I advise you to consult the pediatrician for the physical examination of the child, evaluation of fever, and for the medication advise.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
