Child With Fever And Congestion. Vomited. Rotavirus Infection?

My daughter has a fever of 102.9 and goopy eyes and is congested. When it started a few days ago she had thrown up a few times and had diarrhea. Today she has barely peed all day and will barely have a few sips of milk or pedialite. Yesterday the doctor thought it was the rotavirus. Should I be concerned at this point or keep riding it out?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Your daughter seems to be suffering from a Acute Gastroenteritis with Conjunctivitis. Most of the times it is due to virus and the common one is Rotavirus though there are others like enteroviruses, norwalk etc.It is difficult to confirm the cause of the diarrhoea clinically and the specific investigation for them are not easily available.

What is alarming is that your child is not peeing and is barely taking anything orally.I would suggest that you get her examined by her doctor to rule out dehydration and maybe get her admitted for intravenous fluid therapy.

Regards
Take Care.
