Child With High Temperature, Cough. Given Panadol, Nurofen And Ventilin. Suggestions?

My 2.5 yo boy had a very high temp about 5 hrs ago 38.9.. I stripped him down and gave some panadol, nurofen, ventilin and it went to 36.4. He went to sleep. I just checked on him and now it's gone to 35.1 but he is all sweaty. He has had a cough for the past 2 days and GP also has given him antibiotics which he has taken. Is this ok?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi dear,
Thanks for your query. Paracetamol (Panadol) is safe for fever. But there is no need to add one more fever reducing agent (nurofen). Ibuprofen (nurofen) is known to cause gastritis & vomiting. It can cause more side effects like rash. Its always advisable to discuss with your doctor before giving medications. Two drugs may be the reason for sudden fall in temperature below the recommended 37.5. He is probably having a viral respiratory infection. Don't worry he will be alright soon.

Take care,
